Background:
Opened in 1964, Aldryton is situated in Earley, a leafy suburb of Reading. The single-storey building sits in 'extensive' grounds, and is used for study, sport and play. There is a heated open-air swimming pool that is used throughout the summer months. Aldrynton aims to provide a 'stimulating environment in which pupils are able to attain high standards'. The school encourages children to develop moral and spiritual values, together with a 'strong sense' of social responsibility. The school's football and netball teams play with other primary schools in the area and it has an 'active' choir and a 'thriving' drama club. There is also a debating society and chess club. The school has recently set up the Aldrington Assistants, Year 6 pupils who volunteer for responsibilities at lunchtime to help the midday assistants. Fundraising events are organised by staff and pupils throughout the year.
