Background:
Birch Hill Primary was built in 1975 to an open plan design. It is situated on the southern edge of Bracknell town and draws children from the local area. The governors of the school believe 'very strongly' in supporting children with learning difficulties. Some pupils are sent to a learning and literacy centre each week, where they receive extra help. During the school year various visits and activities are arranged and Year 6 children have the opportunity to go on an extended school journey. Peripatetic music teachers for woodwind, brass and violin visit the school, and other extra-curricular activities include sport, dance, choir, artwork, and technology. Birch Hill aims to promote 'the highest standard of achievement by all pupils, regardless of ability, ethnic origin or gender'.
