Englefield Church of England Primary School founded in 1863 for children of Englefield and Englefield Estate, seven miles west of Reading, between Theale and Pangbourne. Its present Victorian building dates from 1870s. It has rural setting on small village street, with fields to rear. It became Church school under Diocese of Oxford in 1958. The following closure of Sulham Primary School in 1969 became primary for children of Sulham and Tidmarsh, with new buildings added since early 1990s. The school was maintained and funded by West Berkshire since 1998. It has two buildings with original Victorian hall converted to games hall, resource area for music tuition and ICT, storeroom and cloakrooms. Its second building incorporates four large classrooms, resource areas, staffroom, library area, offices and cloakrooms. It has strong parental support for range of extra-curricular activities: sports, music and pottery. It has community links. It is a part of federation of small rural schools.
