Background:

The school is situated on a 'very pleasant' site with a 'large and attractive' playing field on the edge of the village of Pangbourne. The present building replaced the Victorian school which had stood on the Pangbourne Hill site since 1895. In 1991, Pangbourne was re-instated as a primary school after the amalgamation of the infant school, built in 1975, and the junior school, built in 1984. The buildings are 'flexible and well equipped,' with two halls, one of which is used for the dining room. The 'comfortable, pleasant environment,' created by linking the two original buildings, ensures that 'the children's physical, creative, artistic and musical needs can all be met'. The school has raised an impressive amount of money for charity over the past few years, in particular for Save the Children, for which they received the Princess Anne award for outstanding service to the charity. Pangbourne is proud of its sporting achievements, particularly in athletics, and is particularly keen to embrace as broad a variety of sports as possible. Extra-curricular activities include football, art club, choir and French club.
