Background:
The school opened in 1892, designated by Alfred Waterhouse, and was extended in 1963, 1996, 1998 and 2001 to meet growing demand. It offers three classes, infants, lower juniors and upper juniors. There is an emphasis on a 'broad and balanced' curriculum, and all National Curriculum subjects are taught. The school recently made a major investment in ICT in all three classrooms. Pupils have 'many special curricular and extra-curricular opportunities to develop the whole child' and a variety of after-school clubs is available. As a small rural school covering three parishes, Yattendon Primary maintains strong links with the local community, particularly the church. Substantial charity work raises funds throughout the year. 'The school is a strong Christian foundation and there is a Christian emphasis in all aspects of school life'.
