Background:

Slough Secondary School was opened in 1912. It was the first secondary school in Slough. The site was in William Street, where Thames Valley University now stands. By 1936 the number of pupils had grown considerably and it was decided to create two new schools. Slough High School for girls was situated in the west of the town in Twinches Lane, and Slough Grammar School for boys, in the east of the town at Lascelles Road. Slough Grammar School is an 11-18 mixed foundation school which has traditionally served the towns of Slough and Windsor. This school is an academic and caring school. All pupils have religious studies as part of their curriculum. This school has a excellent facilities for all areas of the curriculum. Pupils have access to seven dedicated ICT suites whose technology is updated on a regular basis. The newly refurbished library provides pupils with a range of fiction and reference books as well as access to the internet to support their learning and development. Activities outside the classroom enrich the learning experience of all pupils. The school offers a wide range of lunch-time and after-school activities. These include music, drama, sport, technology and host of other events. The school has many contacts with students and organistations overseas and regularly organises language and cultural exchanges as well as educational visits. Slough Grammar School aim is to continue as a centre of academic excellence and creativity in learning and teaching.
