Background:
Built in 1953 to serve the local area, Courthouse Junior School is one of the largest junior schools in Berkshire. Situated in a residential area on the outskirts of Maidenhead, the school has twelve classrooms, two halls for gymnastics, dance and dramatic productions, two playgrounds with an adjoining sports field, an open-air heated swimming pool and two environmental areas. Sports include football, rugby, netball, hockey, rounders, tennis and cricket. Extra-curricular activities include music (choir, orchestra and recorder groups), and cycling proficiency courses run by parents during and outside school hours. The school has an active parents and teachers association which provides the school with additional resources and organises social and educational events. Pupils are encouraged to foster links with the community and can be found visiting the elderly and singing at festivals and church fairs.
