An endowment by John Kendrick to town in 1624 was origin of this non-denominational girls' school; moved to current site in heart of Reading town centre in 1927; sports hall opened in 2005, including gym and dance studio; indoor swimming pool. Numerous extra-curricular activities include two orchestras, two choirs and ensembles. Specialist science college status. In addition to national curriculum, pupils have chance to study three separate sciences, two modern languages and Latin. Over-subscribed, with nearly five applications per place.
