Background:

Built in 1966 to replace a secondary modern school, The Clere is housed in a typical flat-roofed 1960s style building. Re-roofing was recently carried out. The school was extended in 1976, when it became comprehensive. It is located in a woodland setting on the edge of the village, and facilities include an open-air swimming pool. The school has three fully equipped ICT suites with broadband internet access. The Clere regularly involves itself in tournaments and leagues in Newbury, Andover and Basingstoke. These involve the following sports: soccer, rugby, netball, rounders, cricket, athletics and swimming. The school aims to create a positive working culture which enables all students to achieve their full academic potential.
