Background:

The Willink School opened in 1957 situated in pleasant rural area near the Berkshire/Hampshire border, now it is medium sized comprehensive school for students of 11-18 years of age. In 1996 the school became the first in Berkshire to be awarded Language college status. The school has strong links with all of its local primary schools through 'Network Willink'. The school offers a wide range of activities. Sporting activities include teams for all year groups in athletics, cross-country, football, hockey, netball and rugby. A very well equipped multimedia language centre enables a rich diversity of learning opportunities for all. The school'site includes the Willink leisure centre with its swimming pool, a cadet building and a public library. The school welcome visitors from the police, industry, commerce, charities and local organisations to broaden the education, which offer to students. The school offers the full range of National curriculum subjects and wide choice of courses. The school has excellent facilities catering for a wide range of subjects. These include seven science laboratories, six of which have recently been furbished, art and pottery studios, a music wing, three workshops, a recently refurbished room for food technology, and a business education building with two information technology rooms as well as standard classrooms and two other ICT rooms which are linked to mathematics, technology, science are art. The Willink School is committed to developing an international ethos, ensuring continuity, and progression from primary to higher education.
