Background:

Founded in 1947, the school moved to its present site in 1899 and celebrated its centenary there on November 8. Situated on two sides of a road, a Victorian building forms the main part of the school, with separate buildings added in the 1960s and 1990s. The community supports school events and in return it takes part in some aspects of village life. There are close connections with the local church and the school holds its own services there to celebrate Christian festivals. A parent leads the 'excellent' choir which this year performed an Easter musical recorded by ITV and shown on Easter Sunday. The school, which is over-subscribed, supports homegrown and international charities and recent fundraising activities included sending boxes to war-torn Kosovo. The PTA regualrly raises large sums.
