Background:

The Piggott Church of England has an international and high performing school status. The school main buildings were built in 1940 with funds given by The Piggott Trust, founded in 1798. The buildings are mainly single storey. The school is situated on an extensive pleasant site between the commuter villages of Wargrave and Twyford. The school provides extra-curricular activities which includes a choir, orchestra, jazz band, drama productions and a large number of after school sports activities, including soccer, rugby, cricket, athletics, basketball, dance, badminton and rowing. The school excels in cross-country running, regularly winning competitions at county level. There are theatre trips from the English Department, as well as trips to museums, historical and geographical visits. There is also a science club and Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. The school has a pro-active school council and pupils take part in a variety of fund raising activities, which raised £17,000 in the last academic award. The international school status has a major impact on the school curriculum. An advanced skills teacher outreaches eight primary schools. Modern languages offered are French, German, Spanish and Mandarin. The school aims to create a Christian caring community, where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential.
