Background:

Originally opened in 1866, the school moved to its present area of 'quiet' housing estate close to the centre of Wokingham in 1967. There are eight classrooms in the main building, a hall, a library and an administration block. Between 1994 and 1998 a new purpose-built classroom block was linked to the main school. The school'site is 'large' with 'extensive' hard play areas and grassed playing fields, a heated swimming pools. Science and environmental education benefit from the small copse, trees, and a meadow. Its special needs programme has a 'very good local' reputation, and there is a special room set aside. The school has a 'strong' tradition for music, and encourages participation in its brass band, orchestra and choir that perform in community events. Every classroom has a computer connected to the school network, thus all classrooms can be contacted by email both internally and worldwide. Educational visits 'enhance' or develop work and parental support is 'essential' for this. St Paul's has the facilites to provide for continuous education of pupils from age three to 11. It aims to 'foster a spirit of mutual respect and co-operation between teachers, parents and pupils, in order to create an effective environment for learning.' The school is full in Years 5 and 6.
